Job description

Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting for a Senior Designer to fill 2 vacancies in our Toronto and surrounding area (6435 Northwest Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L4V 1K2).

Responsibilities Include:
Recognize and solve basic and advanced Curtain wall/Window detailing issues; demonstrate understanding of basic curtain wall construction methods.
Read and understand Architectural and Structural Drawings.
Foresee/solve and address curtain wall issues as they arise.
Read and review specifications providing input for potential risks.
Organize and schedule projects and draftspersons.
Resolve outstanding drawing issues and pursue contract clarifications as required.
Supervise, coach, mentor and provide feedback to Jr. Draftsperson(s).
Plan and execute Curtain Wall/Window shop and fabrication drawings with input from the design team.
Ensure all aspects of the project have been addressed and conveyed into the final shop drawing package.
Plan the execution of projects through correspondence with Estimating, Project Manager(s), and the Design/Construction teams.
Demonstrate understanding of building science, construction, and sequencing in all design deliverables.
Check fabrication releases.

Qualifications Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building science or related field.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience designing curtain wall components and systems for large scale commercial building projects

Skills and Knowledge:
· Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor and other design software
· Previous experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders
· Excellent organization and communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills
· Ability to meet project deliverables and timelines

Terms of Employment:
· Salary is ranging from $130,000 to $145,000 annually
· Hours: 40 hours per week
· Vacation: 4 weeks (20 days)
