Overview
JD Property Canada Corp. is seeking a dedicated Home Building & Renovation Manager to oversee residential and mixed-use projects from planning through completion. This role functions as a project manager within a corporate team — providing leadership, coordinating consultants and trades, ensuring compliance with building codes, and managing budgets and schedules on behalf of the employer.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Lead the planning, organization, and scheduling of residential construction and renovation projects.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, municipal officials, and consultants to secure approvals and permits.
- Develop detailed project work plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Approve invoices, track expenditures, and report variances to management.
- Prepare project estimates and support bid evaluations when hiring subcontractors.
- Site Management & Quality Control
- Oversee day-to-day operations on job sites, ensuring compliance with company standards, plans, and specifications.
- Supervise subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring quality of workmanship and adherence to safety regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical or operational issues as they arise.
- Team Leadership & Supervision
- Provide direction to site supervisors, foremen, and staff assigned to projects.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate team members where required.
- Promote a culture of safety and quality across all project activities.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Act as the main point of contact with clients during project execution.
- Provide updates to corporate management and stakeholders on project progress, risks, and milestones.
- Address client concerns, maintain positive relationships, and ensure high satisfaction with completed projects.
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Develop and implement health and safety plans tailored to each project.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Code, municipal regulations, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of permits, inspections, and certifications.
Qualifications
- Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required (formal construction/project management education is an asset).
- Experience: 2–3 years in residential construction project management, supervision, or related leadership role.
- Knowledge of: Ontario Building Code, municipal permitting processes, construction methods, and budgeting principles.
- Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Work Requirement: On-site presence at project locations (no remote option). Local travel within the Greater Toronto Area.
