Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analyze project blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine material and labour requirements, including digital modeling software when applicable.
Create precise layouts in compliance with building codes and industry standards, utilizing both traditional and digital measuring tools and equipment.
Measure, cut, and shape materials, including wood, engineered wood products, steel framing, and other advanced construction materials.
Frame and construct walls, floors, and roof systems, ensuring proper alignment, structural integrity, and adherence to building plans, including the use of prefabricated components when specified.
Install sheathing, vapor barriers, and various types of insulation in wall and roof assemblies to enhance energy efficiency and weather protection, adhering to green building standards.
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems, incorporating concrete, steel, and other materials as required.
Construct and install interior finishing elements such as stairs, railings, moldings, and built-in cabinetry.
Install windows, doors, and other exterior finishes, ensuring proper weatherproofing and energy efficiency.
Maintain, repair, and renovate existing structures, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties, with a focus on framing and related components.
Coordinate and collaborate with other construction professionals, such as architects, engineers, other tradespersons, and site supervisors, to ensure project success and resolve any on-site issues.
Monitor and maintain inventory of construction materials and tools, ensuring the proper equipment is available for each project and implementing efficient waste reduction strategies.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and fall protection systems.
Stay updated on the latest carpentry techniques, sustainable building practices, and technological advancements in the construction industry.
Train, supervise, and mentor apprentices and other construction workers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
Perform quality control checks throughout the construction process to maintain high standards of workmanship.
Participate in project planning meetings and contribute insights to improve construction efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Wage/Salary: $36.00/hour

Education: No Minimum Education Requirement
Work Experience: Must have at least 2 years of verifiable work experience as a carpenter in a non-labourer role
Skills/Licensing: Must be able to independently read and interpret blueprints; Must be able to proficiently use hand and power tools, including saws, drills, hammers and measuring devices. Must be comfortable working and walking at heights using fall protection; Must be able to lift up to 45kg
